debneckdetDEBRA HEYWOOD was born and brought up in Liverpool until the age of fourteen when my family moved to Cornwall where she has remained to this day. The Penwith peninsula is a very special place to her and she feels very blessed to live there.
'There is such amazing light and energy in the landscape around me, the rocky coves, sandy beaches and rugged coastline inspires and opens my mind to a special creativity that inspires my silver jewellery designs. I love getting out with my border terrier 'Poppy' and embracing the beauty and vitality of the coastline I am surrounded by.'
Debra trained in silversmithing at Morrab Art School, Penzance where she developed and honed her techniques as a silversmith. Since then she has expanded upon her skills and many of the techniques she uses in her jewellery today are largely self-taught. She makes all her earring hooks and clasps to create a completely handmade piece. In 2013 she became a member of the Cornwall Craft Association. She shows her a selection of galleries around West Penwith and more recently on the island of Tresco, Isles of Scilly.
