bluepinkDUIBHNE GOUGH's work distinguishes itself for being both bold and feminine. Her exquisite use of subtley coloured, rough cut semi-precious stones, distinguishes her stylistically from her father master jeweller/ sculptor/weaver/painter and printmaker Breon O'Casey, but they come from the same root. She has been making jewellery since her teens, and later on in life assisted her father in his jewellery workshop, so all his materials, methods and tools were familiar to her. It is from Breon that she learnt to keep things simple; and the traditional techniques that she uses, such as working the metal with a hammer, add to this simplicity. What has evolved is an elegant and contemporary style of wearable art, where muted colours flow into purples, mint greens and pinks; all harmoniously placed and ready to enhance any article of clothing.
