janmugJANET LYNCH is a Penzance based painter whose work explores the human condition, in particular the female experience. Born 1938 London she spent early years in India and East Africa. She studied at St Martin's school of Art  1955- 57 and went back to study Middlesex Polytechnic 1981-8. She makes large scale works, as well as smaller ones and uses metaphor and symbolism often refers to myth and legend. As with her earlier work, it expresses feminist and anti-war themes; an early exhibition at Coventry Cathedral to compliment a performance of Benjamin Brittain's ‘War Requiem' reveals this strongly. Over the years while moving between homes in Cornwall and Mexico she has shown in dozens of solo and selected exhibitions ; was a prize winner at the White Space Gallery, London. In 2008 she was elected a full member of the Newlyn Society of Artists
